How to share Projects with new/existing users in Virtuoso.
Problem Statement:
Virtuoso enables users to collaborate on projects by inviting team members to join the project. When a project is shared, the invitees would receive an email to access the project. This article describes how to do that.
Solution:
Members with 'Manage access' rights to a project can share a project by explicitly assigning a specific access level to individual users or by sharing it with a team that the user is a part of.
Virtuoso offers three built-in roles to define a user's access level:
- Read: Suitable for "viewer" users, this role allows viewing but not creating or executing tests and plans.
- Write: This role permits creating and executing tests and plans, but does not include management tasks such as changing user access levels.
- Manage: This role allows creating and executing tests and plans, as well as performing management tasks.
Sharing your project with other users
You can share your project with other users by following these steps:
- From the Organization dashboard, click on the More options ( ⋮ ) button to open the menu associated with the project you want to share.
- Click on the Share option in the drop-down, this will open the Share project.
- Write the email of the person you want to share the project with Add user and press enter.
- Select the desired role i.e. Read, Write or Manage for the users (you can change this later if needed).
- Click on the Share button.
Note: Projects can also be shared from the Share tab present in the Project dashboard or the Project options menu.
If you later need to update a user's project permissions, you can reopen the Share Project component and make the necessary changes. Additionally, you can manage other users' access to your project from the Project Dashboard.
